January 1, 2010 – Day 372 – Koh Samet, Thailand

So it’s officially 2010. Feels nice, like a clean sheet of paper and sharpened pencil. Ready for anything!

December 31, 2009 – Day 371 – Koh Samet, Thailand

It’s New Year’s Eve! And what better way to start the last day of the year than with a glorious dose of Thai sunshine and a big breakfast. In case you’re curious, breakfast in Thailand for us consists of omlettes, toast, fresh fruit (watermelon, banana, and pineapple), bacon, and hot tea. That’s the breakfast of champions right there.

October 31, 2009 – Day 310 – Pushkar, India

Happy Halloween! We didn’t dress up or eat any candy but we did go to the famous camel fair in Pushkar!

October 17, 2009 – Day 296 – Rishikesh, India

Happy Diwali! We both woke up today and after 3 days of fear, it seems that we will be able to get better. Thanks to Cipro from pulling us from the foot-in-the-grave (we’re not even joking, we were both concerned about dying from dehydration and not sure if we would even be able to wake up the next morning; neither of us has never been this sick in our entire lives).

October 13-16, 2009 – Day 292-295 – Delhi-Rishikesh, India

Well, we were just counting ourselves lucky in thus far not having any dreaded travelers’ illnesses from India and wouldn’t you know, Lin woke up to yak her guts out? Saben was feeling pretty weird too and Lin was going downhill fast. As it always seems to happen, if we are going to get sick, it is always on a travel day. No refunding tickets or sleeping it off in the hotel room. No, we were destined to spend the day wandering around Delhi until our night train to Rishikesh. The day was terribly unpleasant, the train was unpleasant but we made it to Hardiwar…

October 10-11, 2009 – Day 289-290 – Delhi, India

A truly uneventful day (lie: we purchased train tickets) followed by a surprise celebration at India Gate the next!

September 28, 2009 – Day 277 – Varanasi, India

The train was late getting in by a few hours but it afforded us some honest views of India. Rolling into the station we were faced with flattened piles of garbage covering acres of land in which people walked, shat and lived. Stray dogs and children pick over the garbage on the ground, chaotic traffic on the roads below with horns blaring for any or no reason at all, cows and goats roam the city and life in general moves furiously and noisily all around.

Day 7: Roatan, Honduras

Happy New Year! Last night was so much fun! We absolutely had a blast! We went out with our new friends and bunkmates David, Frank, and Glenn plus a few of our new diving buddies as well (it’s such a tiny island it’s really easy to bump into people you know). Read the rest of this entry »
