I see your true colors shining through…
Day 107: Arequipa, Peru
She had just finished a tiny plate of salad, had only been in the restaurant for ten minutes, tops. All of a sudden she snatches her jacket and purses and dramatically flounces up to the counter in a blur of varied shades of purple (you know, one of those people who likes to wear one color at a time so everything matches, even eyeshadow?). The poor waiter could do nothing against the unwarranted, spitting anger of this monochromatic woman.
We had been waiting on our food for about 20 minutes and in that time she had come in along with 3 other tables of people. As soon as the woman clicked her way back to her table, fidgeting to readjust herself and do her best to keep an indignant, disgusted expression, the cook sent her plate out. Of course, it`s never a good idea to be mean to the person who cooks your food. Let`s be honest, he or she can really do terrible things to you without you ever expecting (or suspecting) it! We didn`t mind waiting a few extra minutes so that this childish woman could be placated like a tantrum-prone 3 year old, but the waiter came over and apologized, telling us ours would be out very soon. No problem, we said, don`t worry about it. Well he did heed our advice and sent the food out to the other 3 tables who had come in after we had. Wasn`t quite what we had in mind but we aren`t exactly the type of adults to throw tantrums when something goes amiss.
Unfortunately, compliments to Lady in Purples, when we did get our food the chicken was only half cooked which wasn`t even noticeable til we had eaten almost all of it! Very nice. Now we`re going to die of salmonella all because of an impatient swine who wanted her steak and french fries without having to wait her turn. Great, thanks very much!
Oh yeah, and we spent all day searching for (which took forever because he is picky), buying, and then “testing out“ Saben`s new camera (Panasonic TZ4). So new photos tomorrow!!!
