Chalkboard paint is a neat idea but not great for wearing

Day 37: San Jose, Costa Rica

Started painting bright and early this morning but today we were using chalkbord paint. Fine and dandy for the 5 hours of painting we did today til we went to wash up. Apparently chalkboard paint spreads really really well when mixed with skin and water, but we didn´t know that til we were covered up to our elbows in the evil stuff with not even a tiny hint of skin peeking through.

It looked like we were covered in grease and kind of felt like it too. After 45 minutes of scrubbing ourselves raw, we started to make a little progress and could again see most of our skin. Realizing it would take several days to wear off, we stopped the painful scrubbing just before we started bleeding from the elbows down and called it quits. Luckly we found some paint thinner and after a smelly, stinging arm bath, we looked slightly more human.

We gathered up the exit documents necessary for tomorrow´s 4th embassy trip and geared up for an evening of watching the Superbowl, drinking beer, and eating wings. Oddly enough, in a hostel full of people, we were the only two who were really watching the game. Most everyone else wasn´t familiar with American football and thus, quite lost on the game. Pretty good game, pretty disappointing halftime show (sorry Bruce, but you were really much cooler when you were younger), and some good food and beer. Not a bad day, all in all! Quite sleepy and ready to give one last kick in the pants to the Brazilian embassy first thing tomorrow morning, we headed off to bed.
